Braintree, Witham and Halstead are the three principle towns in Braintree district which covers some 61,000 hectares of attractive villages, historic buildings and the countryside
of Essex and Suffolk, and has a combined population of around 132,000.
There are a wealth of shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment complexes in
the area e.g. Freeport Designer Outlet Village opened in Braintree in November 1999,
a twelve screen Multiplex cinema, Bowling alley, and new swimming pool all close to Freeport railway station.
